Are the Vols forming their own “Crab Five?” Some are asking.

Tennessee is reportedly set to host another Maryland player just days after landing Ja’Kobi Gillespie from the Terrapins.

Rodney Rice, a 6-foot-4 guard, averaged 13.8 points per game last season playing alongside Gillespie, who averaged 14.7.

Rice will reportedly visit UT this weekend, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation, per Knox News.

The Terps’ shooter was over 37 percent from 3-point range while making 80 total.

The Vols also signed forward Jaylen Carey from Vanderbilt over the weekend.

This transfer class is already coming along nicely, but if the Vols are able to add the shooting prowess from Rice, it will go to a new level.

Tennessee desperately needs shooters with its four senior guards exiting the program.

Now that the frontcourt appears to be in good shape with Felix Okpara, Cade Phillips, JP Estrella, and Carey, the Vols can focus on guards.

As of now, they’ve got Gillespie in addition to Bishop Boswell. The more help, the better, of course. Rice would be a nice piece.

There’s also still some hope that Tennessee is in the mix for 5-star shooting guard Nate Ament.
