Tennessee Basketball got a late-night commitment on Sunday.
Vanderbilt big man Jaylen Carey announced his intentions to become a Vol.
Carey is a 6-foot-8 power forward who could potentially play in the four-spot for the Vols. He’s a big man but not really big enough to be a true five.
Last season he averaged eight points and nearly six rebounds per game.
Against Tennessee, he was especially good in both meetings. In the first meeting in Nashville, Carey recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
In the second meeting in Knoxville, he had 18 points and seven rebounds. The Florida native shot well from the field in both games.
Glad he’s all-Tennessee now. But how does he feel about the haters from Vandy who don’t like his decision?
“I’m a Vol now man,” Carey reportedly told Rocky Top Insider. “I don’t care about no black-and-gold. I bleed orange now man. I don’t care about what they’ve got to say.”
A four-star rated transfer according to On3, Carey will come to Tennessee as a junior.
He’s also rated as On3’s No. 39 player in the portal.
