Tennessee center Cooper Mays was one of the two offensive linemen selected for SEC offensive lineman of the week. Mays’ protection guided the Vols to a 249-yard output in their 51-10 win over NC State.
Texas center Jake Majors was the other offensive lineman recognized as the Horns won 31-12 at Michigan.
Quarterback Nico Iamaleava was recognized as SEC freshman of the week for his performance against the Wolf Pack, throwing for 211 yards and a pair of touchdowns while running for 65 yards and another touchdown.
Despite Iamaleava’s accolade, the freshman phenom didn’t post it on his Instagram story but posted Mays’ honor instead. High class move from Nico.
The offensive and defensive players of the week were Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and South Carolina defensive back Nick Emmanwori.
Ewers threw for three touchdown passes in the Horns’ win, and Emmanwori had a momentum shifting pick six in the Gamecocks’ blowout win at Kentucky.
South Carolina also had the special teams player of the week in punter Kai Kroeger, not a surprise given his contributions over the years.
Tim Keenan of Alabama and Gracen Halton of Oklahoma were the SEC defensive linemen of the week.
