How Do We Feel About A Super Bowl Outside The United States?
By Cody McClure
Personally, I hate it.
I know they say baseball is America’s pastime but really football, to me, is the most American sport.
As American as apple pie.
And I knew this day would come eventually as the NFL has tried to go global, but it still saddens me.
THE MEDIA (Diana Russini) is openly in favor of a Super Bowl abroad.
On a recent podcast episode, Russini said “I’m open to it” when asked about it.
She implied that it would be a good thing if not for the travel difficulty of playing the game.
The hosts, like me, said they were not into it.
I’m tired of the NFL trying to expand. Why isn’t America good enough?
Yeah, I know, money.
But there’s tons and tons of money here! It’s bad for the teams that have to travel halfway across the world.
It’s bad for the fans who would otherwise be able to attend their team’s home games.
And it’s bad for the sport in general.
Who the hell needs a game in Italy? Or London? Or Mexico City?
They’ve got their own football already. Leave them to it.
And keep the American Super Bowl American.
