Dalton Knecht Brightens A Boy’s Day After Game Postponement

By Cody McClure

The wildfires raging across Los Angeles over the past week have unfortunately destroyed homes and spirits.

They’ve destroyed plans, too. Sporting events were postponed, moved, and cancelled after the fires.

The LA Lakers were one team affected, as they had to postpone multiple games over the past week.

A woman posted on Facebook that she had planned a trip to LA to go to one of these games so that her son, Braxton, could see former Vol Dalton Knecht — presumably one of his favorite players — in action.

They weren’t able to attend the game, but what happened next was a tremendous surprise.

“When we planned our trip to LA to watch the Lakers we had no idea it was going to be postponed,” the woman said. “Braxton loves Dalton Knecht and this trip was just for him. I sent a tweet this morning and within a few hours Dalton’s agent was calling me.”

The woman said her and Braxton were then able to meet up with Knecht, which made the 11-year-old’s weekend.

“Braxton even said this was way better than the game,” she added. “We can not thank Dalton Knecht enough for going out of his way to talk. He spent around 45 minutes just talking.”

How about that? A VFL doing a very nice thing. Apparently he even gave the kid some of his game worn shoes, too.

“I hope this trip was everything Braxton could have wanted because his mom and dad love him real big.”

Heartwarming story.
