C-Mo Appearing in Tennessee Soon?

By Tucker Harlin

The Los Angeles Angels saw a move in their farm system Friday as second baseman Christian Moore was promoted to the double A team.

The trajectory is nothing short of meteoric for one of Tennessee baseball’s favorite sons.

Moore made his professional debut with the Inland Empire, the Angels’ single A affiliate. All Moore did there was hit .545 with a double, triple, and home run.

Moore’s performance on Thursday was enough to catapult him to the Rocket City Trash Pandas, the Angels’ double A affiliate in the Southern League.

As if it wasn’t already exciting enough for Tennessee fans to see Moore get drafted in the top ten, they may have an opportunity to see him in person as the Tennessee Smokies are also in the Southern League.

The Smokies and Trash Pandas’ only remaining games in 2024 will be in Huntsville, but there’s always a chance the two meet in Kodak for the Southern League Playoffs.

But this doesn’t mean Moore won’t make a return to the Tri-Star State this season. The Chattanooga Lookouts host the Trash Pandas August 13-18, so if he doesn’t progress too quickly he will most definitely make an appearance at AT&T Field.

It should be noted that the Angels have been quick to call up players they draft in recent years.

Tennessee reliever Ben Joyce was called up less than a year after his time at Tennessee came to an end. They also called up Campbell shortstop Zach Neto before Joyce in 2023, who played for the team the Vols saw in the 2022 regional.

For now, Moore has continued right where he left off at the end of the College World Series.
