MISSOURI: A-

The Tigers from the north got back in the win column with a 39-20 victory in Starkvegas.

Mizzou surrendered an early field goal, but it never looked back after this Daylan Carnell scoop and score.

Offensively, the connection of Brady Cook and Luther Burden hooked up seven times for 91 yards and a touchdown. He didn’t even lead the Tigers on the ground, but Marcus Carroll rushed for three of there scores.

The only flaws I found in this game was a busted play by the run defense in the third quarter and a coach telling a 2-9 team to shut its mouth and that he’d score again if it didn’t.

Not very nice.

OKLAHOMA: A

My best grade of the week goes to a Sooners team that was desperate for another SEC win.

Oklahoma had to try something uncomfortable on offense in order to topple the Tide. Jackson Arnold threw for just 68 yards, but he and the running backs executed designed run plays to perfection.

The defense has been the Sooners’ strength all season, and it delivered against Alabama.

The front stuffed the Tide for just 70 yards on the ground and pushed it behind the chains nine times. Defensive back Eli Bowen began the second half with a pick, linebacker Kip Lewis returned a pick six to put the Sooners up three scores, and Woodi Washington picked off Jalen Milroe to ice the cake.

Hard to speak ill of the Sooners after it handed Alabama its worst SEC loss in 21 years.

OLE MISS: D

Florida is heating up, so I took that into consideration by giving Ole Miss a D instead of an F.

I talked all week about how Lane Kiffin had never coached as a road favorite this late in the season while projecting to make the field of 12. The Rebels took advantage of the pick D.J. Lagway threw in the first half, but the defense allowed the Gators to respond on the very next possession.

A missed field goal from 34 yards and two turnovers on downs inside the Florida 15-yard line were among the shortcomings for the Ole Miss offense.

The final possessions of the game were disastrous ones. Jaxson Dart couldn’t throw the ball to the guys in white jerseys, throwing some of the worst interceptions you’ll see.

SOUTH CAROLINA: B+

You’ve probably caught on by now, but I’m not handing out free A’s to the teams that played buy games this week.

South Carolina allowed a five-win Wofford team to hang around in the first half of its 56-12 victory Saturday. The Terriers scored a field goal on their opening drive and picked off LaNorris Sellers three plays into South Carolina’s first offensive possession.

The Gamecocks went up 14-3, but Wofford scored a touchdown in the final two minutes of the half to cut its deficit to five.

That was the last time anything went the way of Wofford as the Gamecocks outscored it 42-3 from that point on.

Five different South Carolina runners scored touchdowns, and Sellers threw one more incompletion than touchdowns for the afternoon. On to the Palmetto Bowl.
