Vols Take Big Drop In Poll After Series Loss To Texas A&M
By Cody McClure
Well, D1 Baseball is at it again. They’ve dropped the Vols significantly in their poll.
This time, however, there isn’t much we can say about it.
Tennessee fell to No. 5 after a putrid showing on Saturday vs. Texas A&M.
After run-ruling the Aggies 10-0 in a seven-inning no hitter on Friday, the Vols were destroyed in double-header action the next day.
Sunday’s scheduled game was bumped up due to anticipated weather.
It seemed like UT just didn’t show up at all Saturday. The Vols were outscored 26-9 altogether (9-3 in Game 2, 17-6 in Game 3) and found themselves on the wrong end of a run rule in the late game.
A&M had been reeling this season after coming into year preseason No. 1.
So you might say the Aggies needed this series more than Tennessee, given the way the season was trending. Still it seemed uncharacteristic of UT to get straight up teed off on.
Nonetheless, Tennessee will need to wipe the slate clean as a difficult weekend series at No. 6 Ole Miss is next on the horizon.
Arkansas jumped to No. 1 in the D1 Baseball Top 25 with Texas at No. 2, LSU at No. 3, and Clemson at No. 4.
