Yesterday, Tennessee Baseball pitcher Marcus Phillips was named SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week.

Today, he was named National Pitcher of the Week. The honor comes via the College Baseball Hall of Fame.

Not too shabby for your first-career SEC start.

The award comes after an absolutely dominant performance against Florida — a complete-game shutout on Saturday, 10-0, in just seven innings.

Per a UT press release, “Phillips struck out seven, scattered five hits and issued just one walk in a career-high seven innings pitched, topping his previous career-best of 5.2 innings.

“The South Dakota native's complete-game shutout was the first by a UT pitcher since Drew Beam had one in a win at Vanderbilt on April 3, 2022.”

This marks the first time since May 2023 a Vol has been named National Pitcher of the Week (Andrew Lindsey).

Tennessee takes on ETSU at 5 p.m. today at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The game can be streamed on SEC Network+.
