Tennessee has promoted from within for its new outside linebackers coach.

Levorn Harbin, known as “Coach Chop,” will replace Mike Ekeler.

This report comes via VolQuest.

Harbin is respected as a recruiter, having played a key role in landing several of Tennessee’s top defensive players recently.

“He keeps it real with you, he is like a father figure for sure,” 4-star Mariyon Dye reportedly said about Coach Chop. “He isn’t always going to tell you everything is right. He is going to tell you what you are doing wrong, and that shows he cares. That is what really stood out to me. He really checks up on me and my family. It is not just about football. That was another big part for me too. It shows that he cares.”

Harbin had previous stops at Auburn, Louisiana, Tuskegee, Georgia Southern, and Valdosta State. He also spent a year with the Atlanta Falcons.

Safe to say this guy knows recruiting in the south. Now he’s got a big on-the-field coaching opportunity.
