Tucker’s NFC North Projections

By Tucker Harlin

The NFC North should be one of the most intriguing divisions in football this season. The intense rivalries always give this division strength, but 2024 feels like the strongest its been in quite some time.

The Lions and Packers both found their way into the playoffs in 2023. The other two teams should add pressure to Detroit and Green Bay for playoff spots.

1. GREEN BAY PACKERS

I like the Packers to overtake the Lions for the division crown in 2024.

Jordan Love is surrounded by a young core that had them playing great football at the end of the regular season and into the playoffs.

I really think the Packers are close to reaching a Super Bowl window.

2. DETROIT LIONS

I like what Dan Campbell has done in his efforts to turn the Lions into a winning franchise.

But this is the Detroit Lions we’re talking about, the most lovable loser in NFL history.

Now don’t get it twisted, I still like the Lions to make it to the playoffs this season. Jared Goff’s had a career revival and he’s paired with one of the best running back tandems in the league.

Ultimately, I think this team falls short somewhere in the postseason.

3. CHICAGO BEARS

The Bears should make a big splash this season, and at best I think they could find themselves in a wild card game.

The offense in particular will make a leap in 2024. Caleb Williams has been gifted several important pieces in free agency, all of which have proven themselves in other organizations.

If this season ends up being a total failure, I think the only solution the Bears will have is to fire Matt Eberflus.

4. MINNESOTA VIKINGS

I think the Vikings take another step back this season.

J.J. McCarthy doesn’t fit the mold of Kevin O’Connell’s offense the way Kirk Cousins did. Justin Jefferson is at least a good weapon, but it will be at least a year or two before McCarthy can guide the Vikings to a playoff appearance.

A losing season won’t be enough to get the Vikings to consider firing Kevin O’Connell, but things will need to improve in 2025.
