Travis Kelce made it official today, he’ll be back for another go at it in 2025.

What’s this mean for the NFL? More Travis Kelce! More Taylor Swift! More eyes on the Kansas City Chiefs from football fans and cross-over Swifties alike.

Now, what about the Chiefs and their pursuit of another Super Bowl?

I’m not sure.

The haters out there (not me) would say that last year was an inauspicious one. They might point out that he posted career-worsts in touchdowns (3), yards (823), and pretty much every measurable statistic there is.

Thankfully, he has solemnly vowed to get in “the best shape of his life” this offseason. What this looks like as a 36-year old playing a game where big, fast men use their bodies as missiles is anybody’s best guess, but I don’t see the explosiveness returning nor do I foresee 2020-2022 numbers.

He could’ve retired with no questions or drama, settled down for a life of podcasting with his brother, and proposed to his global superstar girlfriend, but the guy loves football too much.

My hat’s off to him for coming back when he has nothing to prove.
