Tennessee Basketball Transfer Tracker: Feast Week-December 5

By Tucker Harlin

As Staind said in 2001, “it’s been awhile” since I’ve updated you on the whereabouts and performances of the transfers who have exited Knoxville in the last two season.

Between my last update and this one, just about every transfer has played multiple games with some combination of a Feast Week tournament and another regular season battle.

B.J. EDWARDS

SMU had to sweat out a 79-77 nailbiter against Cal Baptist in the Acrisure Invitational but finished the tournament with a 77-60 victory over Washington State. The Mustangs were non-participants in the landslide that was the ACC/SEC Challenge, dismantling Alabama State 101-72 instead.

B.J. Edwards’ 17 points against Cal Baptist was a team high. He finished 7/10 from the floor with four assists and a trio of steals to open the Acrisure Invitational.

Edwards scored 13 in the Acrisure Invitational championship. He was 5/13 from the field, but he grabbed five rebounds and dished three assists out to teammates. 11 points, five assists, and two steals were the numbers against Alabama State.

Safe to say the Knoxville Catholic grad has found his home in Dallas.

FREDDIE DILIONE V

The man we used to call Freddie Buckets is assimilating well in State College.

Penn State finished second in the Sunshine Slam, suffering its lone loss of the season to Clemson. Dilione scored six points while grabbing four rebounds and an assist to open the tournament against Fordham. His performance in the loss to the Tigers included nine points, six rebounds, a steal, and two blocks.

The Nittany Lions got right ahead of conference play with an 87-64 victory over Buffalo. Dilione was 4/9 from three, finishing with 16 points and four assists.

Big 10 competition opened with an 81-70 upset of #8 Purdue. Dilione scored 14 points while shooting over 50% from the floor, also recording trios of rebounds and assists and a pair of steals.

JONAS AIDOO

Arkansas lost a tough one to Illinois on Thanksgiving but rebounded with a comeback win over Miami in the SEC/ACC Challenge.

I don’t have a whole lot to discuss with Jonas Aidoo seeing he’s been less than 100% for much of the year. He scored a basket and grabbed three rebounds in 11 minutes against the Illini and put up similar numbers and similar minutes against the Hurricanes.

TOBE AWAKA

Arizona finished fourth in the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis during Feast Week.

Tobe Awaka went for a double-double of 13 and 10 to go with an assist in the 104-71 win against Davidson to start the tournament. But as you might guess, he found himself in foul trouble.

The Wildcats dropped their second game 82-77 to tournament champ Oklahoma. Awaka scored six points, grabbed four rebounds, and helped out on a pair of assists in 17 minutes.

In what is now a conference matchup West Virginia prevailed in the third place game 83-76 in overtime. Five points, eight rebounds, a block, and four fouls.

D.J. JEFFERSON

I broke down the results for Longwood in the Paradise Jam in my last transfer tracker, but the Lancers did pick up a 108-55 victory against Regent University and an 80-76 survival over Maryland-Eastern Shore.

D.J Jefferson scored 14 points in as many bench minutes against Regent. He went Noah’s Ark style in assists, rebounds, and steals. Jefferson didn’t see the floor against Eastern Shore.
