Sean Miller was hired yesterday to coach the Texas Longhorns in men’s basketball.

If you had him mentioning Rick Barnes in his first presser on your bingo card, then congratulations.

Today in his introductory press conference, Miller gave a shoutout to the Texas-turned-Tennessee hoops coach.

Miller said Barnes was the first coach he ever had when he went to a Pitt basketball camp at nine years old.

"He led me to a championship, or maybe I led him to a championship as a nine-year-old."

Pretty cool. Barnes has been around the game a long time.

Miller will try to turn around a Texas program that has not been great since Barnes left. The ‘Horns fired Rodney Terry as coach over the weekend.

As the former coach at Arizona and Xavier (twice), Miller had an exceptional track record. He’s got a .713 career win percentage.

A big-time winner everywhere he’s been but the SEC will be a new challenge.

Good luck, Sean. It’s not gonna be easy in this league.
