Rick Barnes Commends Tennessee Fan Base … ‘None Better’

By Cody McClure

The Vols are coming off one of the biggest home basketball wins in the program’s history.

They’re in prime position to be a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament, and with the recent success, our head coach took a moment to reflect.

Rick Barnes spoke recently about how thankful he is to be at Tennessee.

(We’re thankful to have you, too, Coach.)

“When I walked out to do the radio show I said, I really thank God for the blessing it was to come to Tennessee … and so many people I’ve met,” Barnes said after the Alabama game. “And the first thing I said was it’s great to be a Tennessee Volunteer.

“I’ve been around the game a long time and actually when I walked off the floor I told Danny White, I said, there’s none better, there’s not a better fan base in the entire country.”

Barnes said the crowd on Saturday came to their feet and stayed in the game. Even when the team was down, the fans stayed with it.

“Our fan base here, I don’t care what [it is], you pick a sport, it’s just phenomenal. And all I can truly say is I’m thankful that God brought me here and our family and it’s great to be a Tennessee Volunteer.”
