One Of Tennessee’s Top Defensive Backs Just Entered The Portal

Well, folks, some bad football news here.
Vols cornerback Rickey Gibson plans to enter the transfer portal.
On3 Sports broke the news this afternoon.
Gibson was a lockdown corner last season after making an early impact in 2023. He ended up as one of the starters in ‘24.
Last season Gibson had a career-high six tackles and one pass breakup in the win over Florida. He didn’t allow a reception and was targeted only once in a season-high 69 snaps.
All in all, Gibson played in 24 games and made 12 starts.
This news is especially concerning after Jermod McCoy, the corner the opposite side of Gibson, tore his ACL back in January.
Hopefully McCoy will be back for the 2025 season, but depth is taking a hit.
