Nico Almost Held Out Of Playoff Game According To National CFB Voice

By Cody McClure

The dust may be starting to settle from the Nico Iamaleava saga of late last week and into the weekend.

But now new details are emerging about just how bad the Tennessee quarterback’s NIL drama may have been at UT.

CBS Sports’ Josh Pate discussed the topic on his College Football Show and suggested that the problems with Nico may have been even worse than we knew.

“This past December, cats like Nico Iamaleava almost held out of playoff games because they were trying to renegotiate contracts in the middle of a playoff run,” Pate said. “He wasn’t the only one… he wasn’t the only one.”

Well that’s great to hear.

Not only was Nico/Nico’s camp not fully invested during spring ball, but he was also worried too much about himself DURING THE PLAYOFF RUN. Allegedly.

If the rumors and reports are true — and who knows the full story on which ones are and which ones aren’t — it sounds like a real locker room problem.

Tennessee lost a talented guy, to be sure, but it sounds like the staff had finally decided he wasn’t worth the headaches.

Here’s the clip from Pate:
