‘Mary Kate-Gate’ Made It All The Way To National TV Yesterday
By Cody McClure
Yesterday in our very important editors and writers meeting here at Fanrun we discussed the story of the day.
Which was, of course, the Ole Miss girl “Mary Kate” — no need to publish her full name here, you can look it up if you haven’t heard about it yet — who allegedly banged her boyfriend’s dad.
This story was all over the internet. We decided not to do anything on it, as some of our personnel pointed out that it has the potential to end very badly.
“I hope this doesn’t end up with one of these people hurting themselves,” said one of our guys.
It is, indeed, a sad story for this whole family … albeit quite interesting to the outside observer.
One day you’re just living life and the next day you’re trending nationally for something you may or may not have done.
But now the story has made it all the way to ESPN, which is noteworthy.
Yesterday on The Pat McAfee Show, during an interview with Adam Schefter, the Mary Kate saga got brought up.
It came up while the guys were discussing Jaxson Dart. McAfee and his co-hosts joked about Dart’s relationship with his dad because of the happenings right now at Ole Miss.
“It’s not a good situation for all parties. Trust is going to be ruined for everybody,” McAfee said. “…There’s some Greek life getting called into question.”
