Kentucky Coach Plays Along With Reporter’s Goofy Question

A Kentucky reporter asked Mark Pope sarcastically about the SEC only being .500 in conference play.

Pope, who seemed to be familiar with the silly question going around, played along.

If you’re not familiar, a couple of journalists — and ESPN announcer Karl Ravech — have been duped recently about a statistic that points out the SEC is dead even in conference games.

The SEC was dominant in the non-conference of course but is .500 in league games.

That’s because in every game there is one winner and one loser, as you may realize.

"I feel like we’re not living up to the expectations, just being at .500 as a conference... I’m kind of looking around at the other programs in the league like, ‘Guys, we’ve got to pick this up. This is embarrassing.’ And so we’ll find a way. I believe in this league."
