Jacoby Brissett Loses Bet with Jerod Mayo, Wears Tennessee Hoodie

By Tucker Harlin

NFL players get competitive with one another over rivalries between alma maters.

A common occurrence during the weeks of big college matchups are bets where the player that attended the losing school has to wear a jersey or shirt from the winner’s alma mater.

Today, it happened to be the coach who made a bet with his quarterback.

Following Tennessee’s 51-10 dismantling of NC State, New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo gave Jacoby Brissett, an NC State alum, an orange hoodie to wear for his media availability

Since Tennessee’s return to stability we’ve seen a handful of NFL players in Tennessee orange after losing those bets.

When the Vols blanked Iowa in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day, George Kittle was seen on Instagram decked out in Tennessee gear following a lost bet to Peyton Manning.

2022 was a great year for former Vols in these bets.

Cordarrelle Patterson snapped pictures of both Kyle Pitts and Rashaan Evans wearing checkerboard overalls after the Vols took down both Florida and Alabama that season.

Elsewhere in 2022, Alvin Kamara forced Tyrann Mathieu to wear a Tennessee hoodie following the Vols’ dismantling of LSU in Baton Rouge.

The Vols are hoping Brissett’s appearance in orange isn’t the last from a Tennessee opponent this season.

Maybe Derek Barnett forces Joe Mixon to wear the overalls in two weeks?
