Injury Reports May Be Coming to SEC

By Tucker Harlin

The SEC already took a step in the direction of the NFL by instituting a two-minute warning to end each half.

It could take another step with the possible institution of mandatory injury reports for the 2024 season.

Injury reports have long been an important piece in the NFL for reasons outside of games themselves, especially in fantasy football leagues and in the world of sports gambling.

Sports gambling in particular would be an important reason for the institution of injury reports in the SEC. For example, if I placed a bet that Texas would have over 300 yards passing but we learned just minutes before kickoff that Quinn Ewers was hurt, I would be very upset as a gambler.

The NCAA is attempting to do away with player prop bets in college, but sports betting is a growing industry across the country as more and more states are legalizing it.

LSU and Florida were the two SEC teams that used the reports last year, and the Big 10 used them across the conference.
