If You Storm The Field Vs. Alabama, Your Team Should Lose Says Tide AD
By Cody McClure
Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne has come up with a solution for field storming.
The Crimson Tide are familiar with this, of course, as they have been on the other side of a lot of these stormings.
Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt all stormed the field against the Tide this past season. We probably shouldn’t have, but we did.
And back in 2022 of course, the fine was well worth the storm from Tennessee.
But it’s obviously gotten out of hand the last two or three years.
Some might say that Tennessee started the surge in field stormings because ours in ‘22 was so cool.
In an interview with ESPN, Byrne said the financial penalty isn’t enough.
"I don't think from a financial penalty standpoint you can really put anything into place that would curtail it," Byrne said. "I think it has to be other steps, other actions."
So what does Byrne think should happen?
"[Teams should] lose that game right then and there," he suggested.
If your fans storm the field, your team has to forfeit the game. Very interesting.
This shouldn’t be too big of a problem for Alabama in the future, as their program seems to have fallen to a point where beating them does not constitute a field storming.
