After the Lady Vols defeated UConn last night 80-76, Geno Auriemma held a postgame press conference.

The UConn coach said he spoke with Kim Caldwell before the game.

He commended her on the impact she’s had so far at Tennessee.

"I think stepping into a situation like this, stepping into this program when you're a young coach that's never coached Division I can't be the easiest thing in the world," Auriemma said. "I just wanted to remind her that, watching from afar, I can see the difference, and I can see the impact that she's had. And I just wanted to let her know that I noticed that."

Auriemma then added a memorable line.

“She should have stayed home to care for her baby.”

Geno was joking around. He didn’t seem to mean it in a mean-spirited way or anything. Or maybe he did. Who knows?

Nonetheless, what a great win for the Lady Vols.

Caldwell said after the game that she imagined Pat Summitt in Heaven “having a cold one” with Caldwell’s father celebrating the win.
