Fanrun Fantasy Scoreboard: Week 9
By Tucker Harlin
Week 9 of the Fanrun Fantasy Football Fight is in the books.
The results are a log jam of 7-2 teams atop the standings, a new last place team, a log jam of 3-6 teams, and the Monday Night Miracle of the year.
TUCKER HARLIN 113.9 vs TIM HILL 93.94
This was a much needed bounceback win for yours truly.
We had competent quarterback play all around, but Peaches narrowly edged me out with 24.54 out of Patrick Mahomes
I won 36.8-25.4 at running back. Derrick Henry was head and shoulders above everyone else with his 26.3.
I somehow got the win at receiver.
Michael Pittman Jr’s path to irrelevancy is sad to watch, and I need all the help I can get out of wide receivers right now. But I won because Xavier Worthy posted a -1 for Tim.
Both of us sucked at tight end with yours truly winning 2.1-1.5 thanks to an 11-yard catch from Kyle Pitts. I won at flex and kicker thanks to decent performances from Aaron Jones and Brandon Aubrey.
Our defenses split at 13.
Jerry Jeudy was my only bench player to outscore a starter while Tim’s only notable bench performance was 12.5 out of Trey Benson.
MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES 122.72 vs WILLIAM PATTESON 119.86
MIssues managed to survive and advance to its seventh victory of the season against Overtime Bill in Week 9.
Quarterback play was competitive, but Geno Smith edged Trevor Lawrence 22.12-19.56. Issues also won by 10 at running back with both Bijan Robinson and J.K. Dobbins scoring over 20 points apiece.
The matchups at tight end and flex were competitive, but Issues won both. Taysom Hill scored 16 and Chuba Hubbard scored 21.2 while William was stuck with 11.5 from Evan Engram and 19.8 from Darnell Mooney.
Issues’ last win was 7-1 at kicker.
Bill’s biggest win was 26.9-7.4 at receiver, but all four receivers in the matchup left with some kind of injury. William also won 5-3 on defense.
Ray Ray McCloud was MIssues only bench player to outscore a starter, but you can’t predict two receivers leaving with injuries. Quentin Johnston and Jordan Addison were both nice on William’s bench, but only Johnston did better than the starters.
HOUSTON KRESS 143.52 vs CODY MCCLURE 124.4
The Vol Rumor Mill was victorious over the Varsity Athletes and has moved one game closer to .500.
Cody spanked Houston at quarterback with a nice 29.9 from Jalen Hurts. In the Vol Rumor Mill’s defense, Dak Prescott left his game with an injury.
Houston spanked Cody even harder with a 55.7-26.9 at receiver because Jaxon Smith-Njigba loves 37 the way we do here at Fanrun.
The win for Houston at running back wasn’t as large, but it was still a nice cushion. Both of Cody’s running backs hovered around 12.5 while Houston scored closer to 18 each with Kareem Hunt and Joe Mixon.
The Rumor Mill’s wins at flex and defense were closer as Amon-Ra St. Brown scored him 18.6 while the Vikings defense put up 12. Cody won by a little under five at tight end while Houston let him have a free win at kicker with Greg Zuerlein in the lineup on IR.
Rico Dowdle for Cody was the only bench player on either end to outplay a starter.
SAM BEARD 124.88 vs JON REED 144.76
Apparently if you’re ranked #1 in the Fanrun Fantasy power rankings, Jon Reed is your worst nightmare.
Jon won by a crisp .86 at quarterback with Jayden Daniels over Sam Darnold. Jon took an additional close victory by a score of 6-2 at kicker.
The win at receiver wasn’t so narrow for Jon. He won 51.4-28.88 as Garrett Wilson broke 30 and Cooper Kupp provided a complimentary 21.4.
Jon’s last win was with Cade Otton’s 21.7 points at tight end.
Sam’s were a 15.9-8.7 at flex with Terry McLaurin over Christian Watson, a 45.9-33.1 win at running back, and a 6-4 win on defense.
Demario Douglas and Justin Herbert were the only two solid bench performances in this game, both for Sam.
JACE BROWN 124.5 vs RUSSELL SMITH 120.02
This was the shocker of shockers on Monday night.
Jalen McMillan no showed for Russell at flex while Travis Kelce scored an impressive 22 on the Monday Night Football game, moving the Keg of Glory closer to .500.
The other of Jace’s three wins came at quarterback, a 23.6-17.72 victory with Lamar Jackson over Bo Nix.
Russell thumped his intern at running back thanks largely to the 32.9 Saquon Barkley scored. His win at receiver was much closer, but Zay Flowers alone scored .1 less than Jakobi Meyers and Ja’Marr Chase combined.
Both defenses stunk in Dubsy’s 4-2 win, and Austin Seibert got him a 9-1 victory at kicker.
Tyler Lockett and Rome Odunze would’ve been stronger plays on both Jace and Russell’s respective benches.
RYAN BROWN 155.82 vs BOB BASKERVILLE 86.44
Ryan has found new life in the Fanrun Fantasy league and has moved out of last place with a dominant performance against Bo.
Bob’s two wins in this bloodbath were at quarterback and kicker. Joe Burrow scored a strong 29.14 while Evan McPherson earned him a serviceable 12.
Ryan won 37.1-20.7 at running back, largely due to a one-man show out of De’Von Achane. He won 41.6-9 at receiver with both Davante Adams and Cedric Tillman hovering near 20.
A respectable day from Brock Bowers, an impressive 23.28 from Courtland Sutton, and an 11 from the Bengals defense gave Ryan wins at tight end, flex, and defense.
Even though not everybody outscored starters, Xavier Legette, Ray Davis, and Josh Downs were all strong on Ryan’s bench. Bob had a few bench players outplay starters, but Khalil Shakir’s 11 was his highest bench score.
