Fanrun Fantasy Scoreboard: Week 7
By Tucker Harlin
Week 7 featured decisive matchups near the top of the Fanrun Fantasy Football Fight. Three teams scored over 130 points, but there was another trio of teams that scored around 80 or less.
Only one matchup truly came down to the wire on Monday night, one that had some significance in the bottom of the league.
SAM BEARD 117.56 vs TUCKER HARLIN 142.22
With this win I take back first place in the Fanrun power rankings.
I beat Sam by a touchdown at quarterback thanks to the 21.02 Josh Allen scored.
I dominated the weekend at running back. Sam only had a combined 16.9 between Tony Pollard and Alvin Kamara while Breece Hall and Derrick Henry scored a combined 50.3 for me.
Sam’s first win of the weekend was at receiver. Justin Jefferson alone would’ve beaten me, and we were unfortunate enough to lose both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to injuries at some point Monday night.
I won a pair of competitive matchups at tight end and flex. Kyle Pitts scored me a satisfactory 13.5 and Aaron Jones put up 20.6 coming his bye week while Sam had 8.2 from Dalton Kincaid and 15.8 from Terry McLaurin.
Both our defenses scored special teams touchdowns, but it was Sam who came out with the 15-11 edge. Sam also quadrupled me at kicker with the 16 Daniel Carlson scored him
Michael Pittman Jr. was my only bench player to outscore a starter, but he’s been a disappointing early round pick for me all season. He scored 9.3 in the Colts’ win over the Dolphins.
Such was not the case for Sam. Nick Chubb scored 10.2 in his return while Sam’s most underutilized bench player, Brian Thomas Jr, scored 22.1 across the pond.
MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES 105.74 vs JON REED 80.34
This wasn’t a great matchup on either side, but MIssues got the job done by breaking 105.
Both sides had it terrible at quarterback, but the 5.34 MIssues scored with C.J. Stroud was enough with Jayden Daniels leaving the game hurt.
The running back matchup was better, but Issues still won by 10. Bijan went over 20 while Chuba Hubbard pitched in a complimentary 11.2 while Bucky Irving was nice and Chase Brown was disappointing for Jon.
Neither team had a great week at receiver either, but the 18.2 Tee Higgins scored got the job done for MIssues. Jon was dealt a gut punch when it was announced Brandon Aiyuk tore his ACL.
Tight end wound up as one of the better matchups this weekend. Jon won with Cade Otton’s 18 over George Kittle’s 15.2.
Each side had a nice week on defense with Jon winning 9-8 thanks to the Colts defense. MIssues tripled Jon at kicker thanks to the 12 Kai’mi Fairbairn scored.
Najee Harris, Keon Coleman, and Geno Smith all would’ve been start worthy for Issues this week. Jon left Mark Andrews and Kyler Murray on the bench with 20 each, but you can’t predict injuries
CODY MCCLURE 131.09 vs RUSSELL SMITH 109.56
I think it’s safe to say Cody had his best week of the season against Russell
The Varsity Athletes tripled Russell at quarterback and quadrupled him on defense. Jalen Hurts scored 22.76 and the Broncos defense scored 21 for Cody.
Both sides had one great performance in the upper 20s and one that hovered around 8 at running back. Cody got the win here by a little less than three points.
Tight end was Cody’s other win thanks to the 17.2 Hunter Henry scored across the pond. Russell still had a respectable 10.1 out of Trey McBride.
The Varsity Athletes took some tough losses at receiver and kicker.
Cody barely broke 10 combined points at receiver while D.K. Metcalf and Zay Flowers doubled that score for Russell. Both kickers had a great week, but Austin Seibert delivered against Justin Tucker 17-13.
The Texans defense on Russell’s bench was his only bench piece to outscore a starter. Calvin Ridley outscored a starter on the other end, but the Titans aren’t trustworthy at the moment.
WILLIAM PATTESON 110.62 vs BOB BASKERVILLE 109.3
This matchup will go down in history as “Bob and Bill’s Barnburner.”
William and Bob both had nice weeks at running back, but Bill got the 38.8-33.3 edge thanks to Kenneth Walker and Alex Mattison. Bill also won by smaller margins at tight end, flex, and kicker with the efforts from Evan Engram, Darnell Mooney, and Cam Little.
Bill also won by about three at receiver with a strong performance from Drake London and a lackluster 9.6 from Jordan Addison.
Bob’s biggest wins were at quarterback and on defense. The Rams scoring 17 to the 5 the 49ers got for William, and Baker Mayfield scored 27 on the dot to the 15.02 Trevor Lawrence put up.
David Njoku’s 23.6 was the only big number on William’s bench. Literally any of Bob’s bench flex options outscore the 1.5 Christian Watson put up.
HOUSTON KRESS 115.88 vs TIM HILL 75.46
Houston’s win over Tim gets him one game closer to .500
The Vol Rumor Mill did a little bit better than Tim at quarterback with a solid 17.18 from Brock Purdy. Houston also got the win at running back as Kareem Hunt and Joe Mixon combined for just shy of 50 points.
Peaches got the win at receiver, but Amari Cooper’s 16.6 was the only performance of note on either side. The Thrill won ugly at kicker too with the singular point Younghoe Koo scored.
Tim’s only other win was at tight end. Zach Ertz scored him a satisfactory 14 while Isaiah Likely was held to 3.7.
Houston won by 20 plus at both flex and defense. Amon-Ra St. Brown scored 25.2 while I scored as many fantasy points as Tank Dell, and the Eagles scored 15 on defense while I scored five more points than the Jets on defense.
Dontayvion Wicks and Tank Bigsby had great weeks on Houston’s bench. Jared Goff was Tim’s only noteworthy bench performance.
JACE BROWN 136.54 vs RYAN BROWN 60.64
Another blowout.
Lamar Jackson scored a stellar 34.44 for Jace, three touchdowns more than the 13.04 Ryan got out of Aaron Rodgers.
Jace had no issue against Ryan at running back with the 32 Jahmyr Gibbs scored. The same thing happened at receiver with the 26.1-7.3 win Jace scored at receiver, with a notable 17.6 from Ja’Marr Chase.
The 8.3 Wan’Dale Robinson scored at flex was enough for Jace compared to Courtland Sutton’s donut. Chris Boswell also pitched in a nice 14 for Jace at kicker. The final win for Jace was the 12 the Bills defense scored him.
Ryan’s biggest win was at tight end with Brock Bowers scoring 19.3 to Travis Kelce’s 5.7.
George Pickens had a big 22.1 on Jace’s bench. There wasn’t a lot to look at on Ryan’s bench, but Allen Lazard and Tre Tucker both did better than starters.
