Fanrun Fantasy Football Scoreboard: Week 2

By Tucker Harlin

Week 2 of NFL football offered some interesting results to make it a more compelling slate than Week 1. The Packers, Saints, Buccaneers, Vikings, Cardinals, and Raiders all won in upsets to send shockwaves around the league.

However, the world of fantasy football was in a world of hurt in Week 2. Injuries have begun to mount as both Evan Engram and A.J. Brown were declared out ahead of kickoff while others like Isiah Pacheco and Joe Mixon both suffered injuries in their games.

There wasn’t a single close game in the Fanrun fantasy football fight, and nobody that lost had a good week against a better opponent.

JACE BROWN 73.68 vs TUCKER HARLIN 121.26

My team didn’t have anything close to the week it had in Week 1, but it was the beneficiary of a nice draw.

Jace beat me at the quarterback spot. Lamar Jackson posted an average 16.38 while Josh Allen had a shockingly low 9.76 for me.

I won by a decisive 41-25.8 margin at running back. Both Breece Hall and Derrick Henry improved by six points from last week while Jace’s best improvement was D’Andre Swift scoring four more points to reach 8.2.

I also won at receiver and tight end, but it was an UGLY outing for my guys. Stefon Diggs took a big step back for me this week, only scoring 7.7 while Michael Pittman Jr hasn’t seen a week over 10 points yet. Fortunately, I didn’t need Kyle Pitts to go off in order to get a win on Monday, but the 5 he posted has me a little concerned

I had another big win at flex with Chris Godwin scoring 24.7 to Tyler Lockett’s 3.5. Zach Charbonnet would’ve been a nice touch for Jace there with Kenneth Walker out this week.

I was advantageous at kicker and on defense this week. Justin Tucker had a nice week for Jace, but the 17 I got out of Brandon Aubrey was a big help for me. I knew I could trust the Chargers defense against the Panthers, but Jace struggled to stay positive against the Bills, scoring just two.

RYAN BROWN 107.78 vs MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES 151.9

Ryan scored the most out of any loser in Week 2 while More Important Issues had the best week in the league.

Not a great weekend at quarterback for either side as Issues edged out management with a 14.3 from C.J. Stroud over Jared Goff’s 8.78.

Ryan had the edge at running back thanks to Devon Achane’s 29.5, although Alexander Mattison wasn’t holding up the rear nicely with 6.1 points.

Keenan Allen missing the game kept Ryan from being competitive at wide receiver. Davante Adams scored 26 on his own, but Chris Olave coupled with a 27.5 from Nico Collins was too much.

Both sides had a nice day at tight end, but More Important Issues won out 20.6-18.8 with George Kittle over Brock Bowers.

Flex, defense, and kicker all went sideways for management.

J.K. Dobbins outscored Courtland Sutton 20.1-3.6, the Steelers defense got to 12 with interceptions for Issues while Seattle only finished the day with 5, and Kai’mi Fairbairn’s 20 dwarfed Harrison Butker’s 10 points.

Somehow, Will Levis and Ty Chandler outperformed starters on Ryan’s team at their respective positions. Alec Pierce scored 16.6 on Ryan’s bench, but I’d probably start DeAndre Hopkins or Allen Lazard before I started Pierce.

Aaron Rodgers and Chuba Hubbard were the only pieces on Issues’ bench that outperformed starter, but I wouldn’t consider starting them over Najee Harris or C.J. Stroud.

SAM BEARD 136.8 vs TIM HILL 106.54

Another beatdown.

Tim had the edge at quarterback by a lackluster 12.94-5.5 with Mahomes outscoring the injured Tua Tagovailoa.

All I have to say for running backs is Sam had Alvin Kamara. Every other running back in the matchup hovered around 15.

Sam’s high and low at receiver were both higher than The Thrill’s. Justin Jefferson was the high scorer here with 23.3, and Sam’s low was Mike Evans with 7.2. Tim had a rough 2.3 from Tank Dell.

The other two areas Sam won in were at tight end and kicker. Dalton Kincaid won it ugly for Sam against Colby Parkinson,

Both sides were solid at flex, but James Conner scored 19.4 to give Tim the edge there. Tim’s Jets defense had the luxury of playing the horrible Titans offense, giving him an 11-5 edge at the spot.

The kickers were of value on both sides, but Sam won here with Daniel Carlson outscoring Younghoe Koo 18-10.

Sam was the only side that strung together strong bench performances with Brian Thomas, Jameson Williams, and Rashid Shaheed all outscoring starters.

HOUSTON KRESS 100.66 vs BOB BASKERVILLE 115.42

This was the closest matchup in the league in Week 2.

Bob had advantages at quarterback, running back, and receiver.

Joe Burrow had a slightly better day than Brock Purdy, winning the matchup 17.22-13.96. Running back was a tight battle too, but Joe Mixon’s 8 let Houston down there.

Bob’s win at receiver was not that close. Marvin Harrison Jr. scored an impressive 29 after a rough Week 1 and Rashee Rice improved slightly to 18.5. Amon-Ra St. Brown looked a lot better for Houston this week, but Tua’s concussion is a big reason why Jaylen Waddle only scored 8.5.

Houston won by the ugly scores of 4.6-3.3 at tight end and 6-5 at kicker, but his win at flex was much nicer as Devonta Smith finished his Monday night with 20.6 points.

Bob won on defense with Philly dropping a donut for Houston. Bob scored 9 with the Ravens defense

Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the only bench player that outperformed a starter on Houston’s team, but you can’t predict injuries to quarterbacks. For Bob, Khalil Shakir was the only bench player that could have been of use, but there’s not a great option between Shakir and Zack Moss at flex.

WILLIAM PATTESON 100.7 vs RUSSELL SMITH 149.06

This is the second week in a row where Russell has dealt the biggest beatdown in the league.

Quarterback and defense were the only real letdowns for Dubsy as Anthony Richardson didn’t break 10 and the Dallas defense surprisingly went negative against the Saints.

Russell cooked (no pun intended) Overtime Bill at running back as James Cook and Saquon Barkley combined for 46.1 points.

Both had good weeks at receiver, but Russell still outpaced Bill by a wide margin as D.K. Metcalf and Zay Flowers combined for 51, both scoring of 20 points.

Not to undermine Trey McBride’s 18.7, but tight end was a free win for Russell as Overtime Bill didn’t take Evan Engram out of his lineup.

William did have the slightest of edges at flex with Darnell Mooney scoring 17.8 to beat out Jordan Mason’s 17.4.

The only bench player that outperformed starters in this game was Quentin Johnston for William, but Darnell Mooney is the only receiver I’d start Johnston over most weeks.

CODY MCCLURE 114.82 vs JON REED 73.04

The Varsity Athlete won convincingly in the TalkSports Bowl.

Cody got the win at quarterback with Jalen Hurts outscoring Jayden Daniels 23.82-13.44. Jon very unfortunately felt compelled to start Daniels after he had a great Week 1 and bench Kyler Murray, but Daniels left the game with an injury while Kyler scored 28.54.

Cody won easily at running back, but it’s not hard to do when you’re going against Tyjae Spears and Bucky Irving.

Week 2 was also a nice win for Cody at receiver, but it didn’t quite play out the way he drew it up. Tyreek Hill scored 6.6 due to Tua’s concussion, but Malik Nabers picked up the slack by scoring a surprising 28.7.

Jon won at tight end, flex, and defense, but his biggest win was the 9.1-1.5 edge Mark Andrews gave him.

Cody had Calvin Ridley and Jerry Jeudy outscore Tyreek Hill on his bench. I wouldn’t start either Ridley or Jeudy over Hill, but I do wonder what happens to Hill’s production if Tua can’t return to form this season.
