A quick wide receiver screen gets you eight yards. Quick to the line. Running back gets you another four.

BOOM. It’s a first down. Move, move, move.

Wait. Some big, fat defensive tackle has suddenly dropped to the ground like a soldier sniped on a battlefield.

Injury timeout. All momentum has ceased.

We’ve seen it time and time again in college football over the past few seasons.

The fake injuries.

Luckily, coaches appear to be looking for a way to get rid of this garbage.

Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger posted on X that coaches are in discussions regarding ways to end the madness.

“Here’s an interesting discussion point in Charlotte at the AFCA convention to slow feigning injuries: Any injured player would be sidelined the rest of the drive,” Dellenger posted. “Coaches could use a timeout to reinstate player. It’s expected to be on the agenda at head coaches’ meetings today.”

If a player is injured, he’ll be out the rest of the drive. It’s an interesting concept.

We’ll see if this effort to end fake injuries comes to fruition.
