Breaking: Cowboys Fire Mike McCarthy

Mike McCarthy has been fired by the Dallas Cowboys.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that McCarthy would not return next season.

He had been with the team for the past five seasons.

The sides reportedly could not agree on length of contract.

McCarthy had three playoff appearances in Dallas and posted a 49-35 total record.

He will likely pursue other opportunities.
