Tennessee trimmed Vanderbilt’s lead down to 10 with 12 minutes left in the second half, but that was as close as they would get before the Commodores went on a massive run to close out the game.
Shembari Phillips had a big game for the Vols with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Armani Moore added 13 and Admiral Schofield had 12 points in the game. Vanderbilt was dominant for most of the contest. The ‘Dores had the Vols beat in height, depth, and in pretty much every other way as well. It was an admirable effort by UT, but with an already limited roster and the absence of guard Kevin Punter due to injury, the Vols never really stood a chance.
Rick Barnes said it very simply in his press conference after the game:
“We weren’t good.”
