The Tennessee Vols hit the practice field on Tuesday afternoon, as they continue their preparations for the upcoming trip to Missouri.
Some good news on the offensive line front, as Darnell Wright looks to recovering from his ankle injury. Wright, who has been battling a hurt ankle for a few weeks now, was working with the OL during their drills. He seemed to be moving better, but still had his ankle heavily wrapped. I would imagine he will be ready to go for the Missouri matchup.
After taking it a bit easy last week in practice to heal up, LB Henry To’oto’o was back working with his group. He didn’t seem to be hamper with any kind of setback, after leaving the Kentucky game for a bit. In other news on the defensive side of the ball, Bryce Thompson continues to practice, but it’s very obvious he’s dealing with knee pain. We will see what the staff decides to do when it comes to a treatment plan & if he will play.
At the QB position, Jarrett Guarantano was working with the RB’s on handoff drills during the first part of the open period, Jarrett, who continues to wear a massive glove on his hand that covers the cast, seemed to be working on sticking the ball. Guarantano was rotating with Maurer during these drills. The QB’s also worked out of the shotgun formation during these drills, with JG taking the snap, something he wasn’t doing “Under Center”.
The WR’s were working on protecting the ball & curls. The pair of Jennings & Callaway continue to be the vocal leaders of the group, as they try to soak up as much as they can during the final weeks of the season.
As the group moved to “On-Air” work, JG was taking reps with the 1’s. He connected on a few nice balls across the middle & down the field. As we were leaving the field, Jarrett was first up when the vols moved into 11v11 drills.
Tennessee will hit the practice field again on Wednesday afternoon, as they continue their prep work. Head Coach, Jeremy Pruitt will meet with the media for the final time this week, after practice.
