The Tennessee Vols were back on the practice field Wednesday afternoon, as they work towards the upcoming trip to Missouri.
Jarrett Guarantano continued working with other QB’s Maurer & Shrout on drills with the RB’s. The coaching staff seems to be giving JG as many reps as he needs, trying to get the handoff perfected. Guarantano continued wearing his big glove to cover up his cast on the left hand. Brian Maurer & Jt Shrout were getting a decent amount of reps as well.
The WR’s were continuing to work on ball protection & digs, as we were watching on during the open portion, Tee Martin was very vocal in getting his group moving, not that they looked to need any more motivation. Jennings & Callaway seemed to be having a good time with their teammates. Jauan was messing with Callaway on one rep, pulling down his jersey while Marquez was trying to run. A bunch of serious moments, but you can tell this group has so much chemistry.
As The group moved to “On-Air” drills, the QB’s seemed to take it to another level. All three QB’s were hitting receivers during their work. Brian Maurer was getting a good amount of reps during this period.
Jarrett Guarantano was taking the 1st reps, when the viewing period was ending & going into 11V11 drills.
During a short glance at the OL, it was K’rojhn Calbert working with the 1st team. He was joined as well by Wanya Morris, as this group continues to try and get healthy. Darnell Wright has his ankle heavily taped again and seemed to still be a bit hampered with his ankle, as he worked with the 2nd group. This OL could look a lot like the Kentucky game.
Bryce Thompson continued to sport a big knee brace, as he tries to battle through knee pain. The defensive group was working on different schemes, so no filming today. Henry To’o To’o continued to look better today, as he gets back to 100%.
Jeremy Pruitt said today on the SEC teleconference that he knows who will be starting at QB for the Vols on Saturday. Don’t expect him to give any hints between then. Tennessee will practice one more time tomorrow as they finish off the prep work for Missouri. The Vols will fly out on Friday for Columbia.
