Butch Jones and Co. received another pledge on the recruiting trail. This time, they picked up a huge commit.
Brant Lawless (Nashville Christian School) is a 6-3, 285 lbs defensive lineman. According to 247 Sports, he is a 4-star prospect and ranked the eighth best player in Tennessee and the No. 25 overall best defensive tackle. Lawless’ other top offers include Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Oklahoma, Auburn, and Georgia.
Lawless is the only current defensive lineman committed, but he’s definitely a big one. Defensive line coach Brady Hoke has a proven track record of recruiting and developing NFL-caliber players, especially linemen. All 14 of Michigan’s NFL combine participants were recruited by Hoke when he was still head coach there, so I’m trusting what his eyes see of this kid. Lawless will be another piece Bob Shoop can add to his defense, especially with injury concerns up front.
