KNOXVILLE, TENN.– June 28th, 2018–The Read Optional’s Trey Wallace is making the move to Knoxville. Wallace will cover Tennessee Sports and host a new local radio show titled “It’s Optional” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. each weekday on WKGN-AM 1340.
At The Read Optional, Wallace is known for covering all 14 teams and breaking stories across the Southeastern Conference. In his new role he looks forward to narrowing his focus to Tennessee while still providing commentary across the conference.
“It’s an honor to continue my career in Knoxville. I look forward to working with FOX Sports Knoxville to bring the best coverage of Tennessee Athletics and the SEC to our wide audience.”
Wallace hasn’t been shy about his desire to move to Knoxville, which he considers home.
“Knoxville is a place I have called my second home for over 25 years. I look forward to getting to know everyone in the community, so they can understand my story and why I am thrilled to be back in East Tennessee.”
Joining Wallace on “It’s Optional” will be co-host Jason Hall and executive producer Brandon Johns. Hall moves over from his role as news writer for SEC Country and Johns is a former Maryville High School football player and assistant coach, where he won three state championships combined.
The addition of “It’s Optional” gives FOX Sports Knoxville five local shows each weekday, more than any station in Knoxville, which is a source of pride for GM Nate Hodges.
“I am excited to add more local programming to our lineup. But even more so because I think Trey will bring a different dynamic that, combined with Jason and Brandon, will really enhance the network and the Knoxville sports talk market.”
“It’s Optional” is set to debut Monday, July 9th. For more information stay tuned to WKGN-AM 1340, the WKGN App and FOXSportsKnoxville.com.
