As social media and athletes’ presences on it have grown, college recruits have used it to countless ends. Most stick with some kind of “Top 5” school lists, getting those schools’ online fanbases involved by retweeting, liking and sharing posts to hype up the potential landing spots.
Well, the nation’s No. 1 junior college tight end (via 247Sports composite rankings) — Dominick Wood-Anderson — took that a step further today.

A quick reminder: Never tweet to recruits. Don’t tweet at recruits. Do not send tweets directed to recruits. Here’s a helpful chart for if you’re thinking about tweeting to a recruit:
Anyway, back to Wood-Anderson’s tweet. He got an offer from Jeremy Pruitt and the new Tennessee coaching staff yesterday, so he’s undoubtedly getting some of these awful tweets from Vol fans.
However, his move is somewhat unprecedented: Would he really make his college decision based on reaching a follower limit? He’s sitting at almost 8,000 followers as of this publication time, up from about the 5,000 he had when he tweeted it.
What if he hits the 20,000 follower number and doesn’t sign with Tennessee? I imagine a lot of those tweets (AGAIN, DON’T BE THOSE PEOPLE) he’s getting will turn sour. Either way, it was met with mixed reactions. Wood-Anderson retweeting plenty of Vol fans’ tweets of support, but not everyone was on board.
If only way you come is if you get followers I don’t want you here ♂️♂️
