Jonathan Kongo III, a 4-star JUCO defensive end from British Columbia, Canada, de-committed from Tennessee on Tuesday. Kongo is the nation’s #1 junior college prospect. He verbally committed to the Vols on November 29, 2015 but released this statement on Twitter Tuesday saying he’s re-opening his recruiting process:
Kongo, who will transfer from Arizona Western College, is also considering Washington, Oregon, Alabama, and Ole Miss. As a native of British Columbia, Washington and Oregon would be close to home for Kongbo. Though, as he stated in his tweet, Tennessee is still very much in the mix for his services. Kongbo, if he were to ultimately choose the Vols, would have to compete for playing time with Derek Barnett, who is expected to be one of the best pass rushers in the nation in 2016.
