Tennessee Practice, News & Highlights

The Vols hit the practice field on Tuesday afternoon, definitely under a lot better weather conditions. Tennessee worked in group drills during the open portion we were allowed to view. Here are a few notes from that allotted time.

K’Rojhn Calbert was participating in practice, which is a good sign for Tennessee fans, since the last time they saw him, he was being helped off the field on Saturday night. Staying with the OL, Jahmir Johnson was also at practice today, which is the 1st time I’ve seen him in drills in a bit.  Riley Locklear, who got his “Bell Rung” on Saturday night, was dressed with a helmet at practice today, but was not participating.

In other news, Quavaris Crouch was working with the ILB group today. Crouch, was running with the 2nd team. Daniel Bituli was trying to get Crouch up to speed on a few things, working with him a bit, while we watched on.

DL Aubrey Solomon, who Jeremy Pruitt said was dealing with knee & shoulder issues, was at practice on Tuesday. He was participating in the individual drills, but i did not see him rep in the group setting. It’s a good sign that he’s out there, battling though injuries, especially with Tennessee so thin.

The QB’s were working on “handoff stretch” drills with the RB’s early on in the viewing session. Brian Maurer was first man up, with Shrout & Guarantano backing him up.  OC Jim Chaney was letting Maurer have it at times during drills with RB’s, wanting him to pickup the speed.

Jauan Jennings & Marquez Callaway were working hard with their WR group, encouraging teammates to pick up the intensity at times. This duo continues to lead the way, especially coming off a nice weekend for the pair.
