Today the University of Tennessee announced its new head coach in Josh Heupel. Many fans have voiced their opinion on the new hire but it seems Heupel is already making an impression on the current roster.
First and foremost the current roster needs to be Heupel’s main concern considering the Volunteers have over 10 guys in the transfer portal currently.
One of the first to express his thoughts on the new hire was senior defensive back Alontae Taylor, he seems excited and ready to get back to work!
Following Taylor’s tweet, backup quarterback Brian Maurer quoted tweeted Taylor’s tweet agreeing with him.
Both Taylor and Maurer being upperclassmen could help usher in the Heupel era.
Velus Jones Jr tweeted out today making a joke about running every day of the week referencing Heupel’s fast pace offense he brings to Rocky Top!
Also, transfer quarterback Hendon Hooker who committed under Jeremy Pruitt expressed his excitement for the new coach by wanting to start working.
With many other current players speaking out throughout the day, it seems like a lot of the current roster likes the new hire.
As stated previously it’s important to keep the current roster intact and possibly get players who are rumored to come back from the portal, like Henry To’o To’o and Wanya Morris.
