Tennessee Basketball Working Towards The Season Opener

The Tennessee basketball team continues to work towards the 2020-2021 season.

The Vols will tipoff the season next Wednesday against Charlotte, part of the “Volunteer Classic, ” along with VCU.

Chris Dortch from “Blue Ribbon” sports joined us on FOX Sports Knoxville last week to discuss this Vols team, and had nothing but praise.

“I think this team (Tennessee) is one of 6 or 8 that can win it all.”

Dortch went on to say that this years squad might be the best overall team in thirty plus years.

“I think this is the best team (Tennessee) since the Ernie & Bernie days.”

Tennessee freshman Jaden Springer met with the media last week to discuss the overall growth so far and how his game can translate into success.

“I feel like I’ve been around these guys everyday, so I know how good they are. I know I can go out there and play with each one of them. I feel like we all know each other pretty well by this point.”

Springer knows how much success this group can have if they out it all together.

“I wouldn’t say championship or bust, but I feel like with the talent we have and the team we have, we could definitely take it all the way if we play up to what we’re supposed to.”

Freshman Keon Johnson also had the opportunity to speak with the media, and discussed some of the bigger adjustments to college.

“The biggest adjustment for me has been my time management. Being able to balance my time with both ball and school, while being able to get extra shots up in the gym, whether it’s late at night or before practice.”

Tennessee will continue their preparations leading up to next weeks home opener.
