Even in one of the most inconsistent Tennessee basketball seasons, the three constants of life have still remained true throughout.

Death. Taxes. Rick Barnes owning Vanderbilt.

Barnes has nine wins in his last 10 matchups against Vanderbilt and has owned his side of the rivalry. Even though it hasn’t always come easy, Tennessee typically has a pretty good outcome whenever the Vols play the ‘Dores.

Vanderbilt doesn’t have near as much to play for tonight in comparison to Tennessee, but that may be the reason not to overlook Vandy here. Tennessee is in the process of trying to rebound from a loss while getting healthy, and the crown jewel in a bad season from Vanderbilt would be a win over Tennessee at home.

But when it comes to what will actually be on the court, Tennessee should be able to assert its dominance on a less talented team. Yes, Scotty Pippen Jr. will get his points once again after dropping 18 on the Vols in January. But if Tennessee can do a good job of bottling up Pippen Jr., the rest of the Vanderbilt team isn’t very daunting outside of Dylan Disu.

As for Tennessee, Victor Bailey Jr. has found his stroke again as of late. Bailey Jr. will need to continue hitting his shots tonight, as the Vols will look to get Fulkerson, Springer, and Vescovi back on track with the season coming to a close.

Tennessee gets it done. Vanderbilt won’t make it easy and has been playing good basketball lately. The ‘Dores only lost to Alabama by four in their last game. But Tennessee needs to win this game. So they will.

Tennessee 68, Vanderbilt 63
