Tennessee Basketball has remained in the Top 25 rankings throughout the entire season, although they haven’t been this close to falling out yet.
After a week in which Tennessee beat South Carolina and lost to Kentucky, the Vols are now ranked No. 25 in Monday afternoon’s Associated Press rankings.
The Vols were previously ranked No. 19.
This is the third week in a row Tennessee Basketball has moved down in the rankings.
Tennessee is currently the final SEC team in the rankings. Alabama is ranked No. 6, Arkansas is behind them at No. 20, and Missouri sits right in front of Tennessee at No. 24.
Furthermore, in terms of the SEC standings, Tennessee also dropped a spot after their loss to Kentucky.
The Vols are currently No. 5 in the SEC, trailing Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, and Florida in that order.
Additionally, with the Vols moving out of the Top 4 in the SEC, they also lose their spot to start in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament.
The No. 12 and No. 13 seeds will face-off in the first round, and will be joined by No. 5 – No. 11 in the second round. The final four SEC teams will begin their tournament in the third round (the quarterfinals).
Climbing back into the Top 4 of the SEC standings will be critical for Tennessee in the final few games, knowing that it will give them an extra bye-game.
