Tennessee-Alabama Rapid Reaction: Enough Is Enough

I’ll keep this short.

Tennessee scored a defensive touchdown on the aware play of Daniel Bituli, but failed to break an offensive touchdown-less streak in a 45-7 blowout loss to No. 1 Alabama.

Here’s all you need to know.

Tennessee has gone 14 quarters without an offensive touchdown. That score came in the first half against UMass, who registered its first win today.

In that time, the Vols have managed just 561 yards of offense, an average of 40 yards a quarter. Tennessee had 108 yards today. 108. Jarrett Guarantano was hit enough times to leave permanent bruises and John Kelly was seemingly left out of the offensive game plan until the Vols were down 24 points.

Today’s total yardage: Alabama 604, Tennessee 108.

Fans have littered the country with “Fire Butch Jones” signs, while opposing fans like Butch Jones so much that they’re wearing shirts that say “Keep Butch Jones,” while they chant the same. ‘Bama fans chanted “Keep Butch Jones” over and over today.

After seemingly escaping from one national laughing stock situation, Tennessee has fallen into another.

Fans aren’t excited for games. Fans don’t believe in the potential of the team. And that’s the problem.

It’s time to move on. Butch Jones isn’t getting the job done, and it’s time to find someone who can. It’s embarrassing.
