A Tale of Two Quarters: Vol Twitter

Tennessee fans were on edge coming into Bristol after watching the Vols barely escape Appalachian State 20-13 to open the season. There was an uneasiness across Vol Nation when Virginia Tech raced out to a 14-0 lead during the first quarter of Bristol. Fans quickly opened up on social media with their opinions about how the Vols were playing and how Tennessee’s coaching staff was being out coached by Justin Fuente and company. Virginia Tech embarrassed Tennessee during the first quarter, but the second quarter was an entirely different scenario when the Vols scored 23 unanswered points which ultimately led to a 45-24 victory over the Hokies.

Vol Twitter is more unpredictable than Mike DeBord’s offense and it showed throughout the first half of the game. So, what were the fans saying throughout the first half of Bristol? Let’s take a look.
