Vols Wednesday Availability Report: Florida

By Tucker Harlin

The SEC released its first round of mandatory player availability reports for conference matchups on October 12.

Here is the Wednesday report for Florida at Tennessee:

Let’s start with the Tennessee side.

The three under the “out” or “doubtful” classification for Tennessee have either been out all season or are reserves that aren’t expected to see the field unless Saturday’s game turns into a blowout.

Dont’e Thornton is listed as “questionable.” Thornton left the game briefly as he took a kick of friendly fire to the back of the leg from Squirrel White but returned for the final possessions. This is one to monitor as the game approaches as the last player of importance listed as questionable on a report was Lance Heard before the Oklahoma game.

Bru McCoy, Squirrel White, and Christian Harrison are all listed as probable. White’s injury in particular looked bad in real time, so this is a positive sign for the Vols.

Finally, Bryson Eason is nowhere to be seen on the report. This is a great sign for the Vols as Eason left sometime in the second half.

Let’s shift to Florida.

The biggest development for the Gators is the lack of receivers Trey Wilson and Aidan Mizell anywhere on the report. Florida will now have its four key receivers in Knoxville.

The other offensive player of significance on the report is tackle Austin Barber listed as “questionable.” Barber was a returning starter for the Gators on the left side going into this season.

Defensively, there are some second and third string defensive linemen out or questionable, but the worst concern is strong safety for the Gators.

Asa Turner, D.J. Douglas, and Bryce Thornton are all marked as questionable, and those are Florida’s three best at the position. There is of course a strong probability at least one plays Saturday, but it’s worth monitoring.
