Vols Lose Reserve Running Back to Portal
By Tucker Harlin
The possibility of Dylan Sampson leaving a season early for the draft is not the only loss Tennessee’s running back room is taking this offseason.
Sophomore running back Khalifa Keith entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal Wednesday afternoon.

Keith’s only action for the Vols came in mop up duty in his two years in the program. With younger guys like DeSean Bishop and Peyton Lewis seeing the field, Keith didn’t seem like he was going to find his way into the mix in the coming seasons.
With this news, it sounds more and more like Bishop will get the start at running back next season with some combination of Peyton Lewis and Cam Seldon backing him up.
The 2025 class yielded a pair of three star running backs in Justin Baker out of Georgia and Daune Morris from Murfreesboro. Both Baker and Morris figure to fall behind the other three in the mix.
