Vols Flip Vanderbilt Baseball Commit
By Tucker Harlin
Tony Vitello and the BaseVols aren’t slowing down on the recruiting front.
Tennessee received a commitment from 2025 shortstop and right handed pitcher Billy Carlson. Ranking fifth overall in the class, Carlson was committed to Vanderbilt before flipping to the Vols.

The Vols are still another full season away from getting Carlson, so there is always a chance he is drafted before he arrives. Manny Ramirez’s son Lucas and Mookie Betts are examples of high level recruits drafted away from the Vols in years past.
On another note, Billy Carlson is a strong baseball name. Going from Dean Curley to Billy Carlson at shortstop would be an incredible transition.
The Vols are set to face Western Kentucky in First Horizon Park Friday evening and Troy in Jackson Sunday afternoon in a pair of exhibition game. First pitch for the Friday game is at 6 p.m. CT and at 12 p.m. CT Sunday.
