Vol Baseball Announces Big Time Special Guest Pitcher For Midweek

By Cody McClure

Tennessee Baseball announced today that a significant sports figure will be throwing out Wednesday’s first pitch.

NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace will take the mound for the first pitch when UT takes on Xavier at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

It’s a nice honor for one of NASCAR’s top drivers, who also happens to be a Vol fan.

Wallace is currently competing in the NASCAR Cup Series and is fresh off a Top-10 finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

He’s got two career wins — the first coming at Talladega in 2021 and the most recent coming at Kansas in ‘22.

The Vols are undefeated on the season and currently ranked No. 2 in the country. They’re coming off a big weekend that saw them notch a pair of ranked wins vs. Oklahoma State and Arizona.

Wednesday’s game will start at 6 p.m. ET. The game can be streamed on SEC Network+.

Fun Fact: Bubba Wallace is the first cousin of former Fanrun and current Outkick employee Trey Wallace. “It’s Optional!”
