Velus Jones on The Move in the NFL

By Tucker Harlin

A former Tennessee football player was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars Tuesday.

The Jaguars signed Velus Jones Jr. to their roster in lieu of recent injury troubles, including a season-ending collarbone injury to receiver Christian Kirk and a chest injury to fellow wideout Brian Thomas Jr.

Jones was signed to the Chicago Bears active roster following the preseason due to his skills as a running back. Unfortunately, issues as a return man drew the ire of the front office and resulted in a subsequent release.

This move actually serves as a reunion of sorts between former pieces of the Tennessee football program.

Jones can return kicks and play receiver and running back. Former Vols running backs coach Jerry Mack left the program back in February to take the same position in Jacksonville.
