Tennessee Baseball returns to the diamond this weekend for a challenging road series at Ole Miss.

A key storyline in the series you may or may not be familiar with is how impactful it would be for two of the Vols’ players.

Pitcher Liam Doyle and first baseman Andrew Fischer transferred to Tennessee from Ole Miss over the offseason.

Two of UT’s best players came in straight from Oxford and this will be their first return trip back (for baseball reasons, at least).

It will surely have the Ole Miss crowd extra fired up for a high-level series involving two top six teams.

Vols head coach Tony Vitello said he doesn’t “have a prayer” in talking to Doyle about the potential emotional struggle of this series.

“You don’t have a prayer at talking to Liam about controlling his emotions,” Vitello said. “That’s a waste of time. And then speaking of [Andrew Fischer], Jersey Shore isn’t coming out of Fisch. He’s going to act like that at all times. That’s his quote, actually.”

Two fiery players who have personal connections to Ole Miss. Doyle will be the presumed Friday night starting pitcher while Fischer will be looking to knock the ball out of a familiar park.

Things could get chippy this weekend.
