Three Vols Score SEC Weekly Honors

By Tucker Harlin

Tennessee’s 25-15 win at Oklahoma Saturday caught the attention of the college football world, moving the Vols into the Top 5 in the AP Poll.

Three Vols made their way into the SEC weekly honors for their heroics in the win.

Edge rusher Josh Josephs was co-defensive lineman of the week, finishing the game with three tackles, a tackle for loss, and forced both of Jackson Arnold’s fumbles.

Josephs split the honor with LSU defensive end Bradyn Swinson, who had two sacks and a forced fumble in the Tigers’ 34-17 win over LSU.

Up next is kicker Max Gilbert, who received special teams player of the week. Gilbert made all three of his field goal attempts with a long of 41 yards, making up for missed opportunities on the Sooners’ side of the field.

The final accolade the Vols logged this week was freshman of the week, courtesy of you guessed it, Nico Iamaleava.

Iamaleava went 13/21 for 194 yards and a touchdown in the air and sealed the game with a 16-yard run for a first down in the final minute.
