A college basketball guard has just committed to Villanova.
Typically this sentence wouldn’t need any further questioning or insight, and it would hardly even be newsworthy.
But in today’s world of college basketball — dominated by NIL pay for play and extra drama on every month of the calendar — it’s noteworthy.
Devin Askew, a transfer out of Long Beach State, will be committing to his FIFTH school.
Askew is a former 5-star recruit who began his career with Kentucky.
He then played on season at Texas and two at Cal before heading over to Long Beach State.
Now it’s back to the east coast to play for who knows how long at Villanova.
It will be Askew’s sixth year, and he’s pretty good, having averaged nearly 19 points per game last season.
Good luck to him and what not, but it begs the question — are they ever going to get this stuff under control?
